Managing Performance

If you are supervising or managing employees, one of the most important skill sets to master is managing performance.  This workshop is designed to provide a solid performance management framework for those new to supervision or management of others.  For seasoned supervisors and managers, this material can serve as a useful “refresher” of performance management concepts, tools and resources.

The following key elements of Managing Performance are presented and discussed. . .

  • Performance planning – What it is, why it matters and how to begin
  • Ongoing monitoring of progress against the plan – performance monitoring and interim reviews
  • Process for ongoing feedback, coaching and development of employees
  • Employee development tools and strategies
  • Tips for effectively giving and receiving feedback
  • Performance documentation
  • Handling performance problems and preparing for a performance problem discussion with an employee
  • Annual review and development plan for the upcoming year
  • Making the link between employee performance, compensation and recognition programs offered in your organization

Large group discussion is built into the design of the workshop, with time for questions and skill practice if desired.

“When you know more, you can do more”.
